Seating and Room Clearance Guidelines
Room Clearance
- 36" Minimum Clearance: Allow at least 36" from the edge of the table to any wall or obstacle
- 48" Recommended Clearance: For the most comfortable movement, 48" of clearance is ideal
- Buffets and Hutches: Allow 36"-48" of space between the table and any buffet, hutch or sideboard.
Chair Seating Clearance
- Allow 24" per person for comfortable seating
- Minimum 18" per person (tight fit)
- Leave 6-8" between chairs for elbow room
- Note: most of our chairs are 18" wide
Table Width Matters
- Narrow tables like a 36" or 42" wide can impede chairs from pushing all the way in especially at the ends because they will hit at the corners
Leg Tables
- When estimating seating for leg tables it is important to note that the legs are inset and this does impact overal seating capacity
Trestle Tables
- When estimating seating for trestle table it is important to note that the trestle bases can reduce knee and/or clearance
