FAQ

How many people can the Baytown table seat?

The base sizes comfortably seat six to eight guests. With extensions added, the table can seat twelve or more, depending on chair size and configuration.

What is a bow end top?

A bow end top features curved ends rather than squared corners. This creates a softer profile and provides extra seating comfort at the ends of the table.

Does this table offer self storage for leaves?

Yes. Self storage is available when ordering two or fewer leaves. If you plan to use more than two extensions, the self storage feature is not available due to internal space limitations.

Why does the table include drop down support legs?

Drop down legs add important stability when the table is extended with multiple leaves. They deploy only when the table exceeds a certain length and store neatly when not in use.

Which wood type creates a more contemporary look?

Brown Maple and Hard Maple offer smooth, consistent grain that pairs well with modern homes. For visible character, Rustic Cherry or Quarter Sawn White Oak are excellent choices.

What is the typical lead time?

Most handcrafted extension tables take about 8 to 12 weeks. Quality takes time, and your table will be built to order specifically for your home.

Furniture Care

With all the care that is taken by selecting the perfect piece to our vendors getting it to you, we want to help you maintain your furniture's natural beauty. Below you will find some recommendations from our builders to properly care for our solid, hardwood furniture and will ensure its beauty lasting for years to come.

Humidity:
Keep your furniture in a room with a humidity range that is between 35%-45%.  In order to get an accurate read, we recommend using a hygrometer in the room where your furniture is.

Store table leaves in or close to the table to maintain consistent environmental conditions.

Heat:
Keep your furniture out of the path of direct heat sources: heating vents, direct sunlight, etc.  Refrain from putting hot serving items, plates, cups directly on the table surface.

Cleaning:
Wipe down the furniture with a soft, damp cloth.  If necessary, use a mild soap and water with a damp cloth.  Make sure remove any standing water.  We do not recommend using any polishes that contain silicone or wax.

Dust table often and carefully with a soft cloth, following the grain pattern to remove abrasive dust particles.

Do not rub your table as this can cause an over buff/shine. Do not use any abrasive cloths or sponges as this can scratch the surface.

Protect Surfaces:  Whenever possible, protect flat surfaces from dragging, scratching, denting or dropping items on them. Use place mats, tablecloths, coasters and the like to offer protection from heat and condensation.

Use caution with any item that can stain, like markers, fruits etc.

Use caution when writing or doing anything that can dent the surface.

Avoid the use of nail polish remover, alcohol or other solvents near the table.

We recommend using table or buffet pads for extra protection to help protect your dining surfaces to keep them looking great.

After trying out two kitchen tables (not from Amish Tables) that failed our standards, we decided it was worth the cost to go with an Amish table. It's been about 6+ months and we're thrilled with our decision.
