FAQ

What makes the Ethan table ideal for families?

The strong, tapered legs and classic design make it a reliable everyday table. With up to twelve leaves, it adapts easily from daily meals to large holiday gatherings.

Will armchairs fit under the table?

Armchairs can be used, but the skirt height may need modification. Our team can help review your chair measurements to ensure a proper fit.

Which wood type gives the most traditional look?

Red Oak, Rustic Cherry, and Quarter Sawn White Oak highlight traditional grain patterns and warm tones. Brown Maple or Hard Maple create a more modern, clean look.

Are the extension leaves easy to use?

Yes. Each leaf fits precisely into place, and the table is built to extend smoothly and stay steady even at full length.

Why does the table use center support legs?

Leg tables rely on corner legs rather than a center trestle, so added length benefits from additional stability. The removable center legs provide support only when needed.

What is the typical lead time?

Most handcrafted dining tables take about 8 to 12 weeks. Quality takes time, and every table is built to order.

Available Wood Types:

Most of our furniture is available in: Red Oak, Brown Maple, Rustic Cherry, Cherry, Hard Maple, Quarter Sawn White Oak, Plain Sawn White Oak, Hickory, and Walnut.

Some of our furniture is also made in rough sawn or rustic woods and it would be noted in the product description.

Furniture Care

With all the care that is taken by selecting the perfect piece to our vendors getting it to you, we want to help you maintain your furniture's natural beauty. Below you will find some recommendations from our builders to properly care for our solid, hardwood furniture and will ensure its beauty lasting for years to come.

Humidity:
Keep your furniture in a room with a humidity range that is between 35%-45%.  In order to get an accurate read, we recommend using a hygrometer in the room where your furniture is.

Store table leaves in or close to the table to maintain consistent environmental conditions.

Heat:
Keep your furniture out of the path of direct heat sources: heating vents, direct sunlight, etc.  Refrain from putting hot serving items, plates, cups directly on the table surface.

Cleaning:
Wipe down the furniture with a soft, damp cloth.  If necessary, use a mild soap and water with a damp cloth.  Make sure remove any standing water.  We do not recommend using any polishes that contain silicone or wax.

Dust table often and carefully with a soft cloth, following the grain pattern to remove abrasive dust particles.

Do not rub your table as this can cause an over buff/shine. Do not use any abrasive cloths or sponges as this can scratch the surface.

Protect Surfaces:  Whenever possible, protect flat surfaces from dragging, scratching, denting or dropping items on them. Use place mats, tablecloths, coasters and the like to offer protection from heat and condensation.

Use caution with any item that can stain, like markers, fruits etc.

Use caution when writing or doing anything that can dent the surface.

Avoid the use of nail polish remover, alcohol or other solvents near the table.

We recommend using table or buffet pads for extra protection to help protect your dining surfaces to keep them looking great.

After trying out two kitchen tables (not from Amish Tables) that failed our standards, we decided it was worth the cost to go with an Amish table. It's been about 6+ months and we're thrilled with our decision.
